We’re Joep and Naomi, the people behind Home Sweet Sweden. After living in Malung for many years, we know its forests, lakes and hidden gems well. We personally look after both holiday homes and are always happy to share local tips or help with your stay. We hope you’ll feel at home and enjoy the best of Swedish nature.

The Malung region offers something rare: dense forests, genuine peace, and that particular Swedish light that changes everything. These cabins let you experience it all without sacrificing comfort. It's the kind of place where time slows down, and you remember why you came.

Very cosy cabin, surrounded by forest by a lake - great! The cabin has everything you need, it was clean and quiet. However, the steep staircase without a handrail and the beams running across the floor and ceiling require increased attention ;-)
Joep is a very good host. He provided us with any additional equipment we needed. He proactively asked how we were getting on and replied quickly to messages. A very tastefully and cosily furnished house in a beautiful and peaceful woodland setting. Highly recommended if you’re looking to enjoy some peace and quiet and fresh woodland air.

A lovely stay in a cosy cabin. A quiet area and a great location. We found that the smoke alarm went off several times during the night for no reason, and unfortunately we didn’t receive a reply when we reported it. Otherwise, the stay was lovely.
We had a lovely few days. The cottage was a bit cramped or on the small side at times, but it was fully equipped and tidy.
Have a lovely stay! Really nice and cosy! Everything was there and it was very clean. The internet connection wasn’t always very strong. The bed could have been better.

A very quiet, simple and peaceful place to stay, right in the heart of nature. Just sitting at the back of the cottage, with the pine forest, the evening light and the pond right before my eyes, was magical! There were two of us adults staying there and it worked out fine, but given the steep stairs, we reckoned it wouldn’t be ideal for families with young children. Or, of course, you could have stayed in the little cottage instead.
We felt very much at home in the log cabin, which is superbly equipped. The location is absolutely brilliant and the view of the forest from the veranda is simply perfect.

A good, well-appointed stuga. The loft bedroom with two single beds has a low ceiling, so I would mainly recommend it for children. Adults might find it a bit cramped.
The location is really peaceful with the luxury of waking up in the woods with a cute little pond. With a small cabin in the backyard as well. Perfect accomodation to enjoy the nature.
We felt right at home at Joep’s place straight away. It’s cosily furnished and has everything you need! During our stay, we went on lots of walks, and when the weather was bad, we were able to relax on the sofa and read. We particularly liked the location of the accommodation and the living room. We’d come back any time!
We had a lovely stay. We were given a warm welcome and had a really good time. And here’s a nice little detail… We even spotted a moose! 🫎
We booked this lovely cottage to visit our family in the area. So we mainly used it just to stay the night. We got on really well with the other guests on the site and with Joep. And it was lovely and peaceful there.
A really lovely, cosy little cottage. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The cottage could do with a bit of maintenance, though. The Wi-Fi wasn’t great.

Nice and cosy cabin, perfect for a our stay over a couple of nights with two kids. Located nicely next to the forest. Clear communication from Joep with good and helpful instructions around check-in. Would recommend this accommodation to others who are planning to stay in the vicinity of Malung.

We had a wonderful stay here! The cottage was perfectly situated in nature, and because it was snowing, the setting was very romantic. The cottage itself was well-equipped and cozy. Communication with Joep was excellent, and he was very helpful in suggesting activities in the area. Definitely recommended for vacationers looking for a romantic getaway for two or a chance to enjoy nature with their children!
It was wonderful. We really enjoyed the location and the peace and quiet and would have loved to stay longer.
A lovely stuga and a lovely area. Unfortunately, there were a few problems with mice, resulting in mouse droppings scattered around the cottage. We booked this stuga because of the extra beds in the small cottage next door, but unfortunately it was too cold to sleep there despite having the radiator on for 1–2 days.

We loved out stay in the cottage. It was very peaceful and quiet. Wen enjoyed hiking in the forest, that is around the cottage. The place was exactly what we needed. Joep was easy to communicate and always helpful, while 100% respecting our privacy. If You’re looking for an absolute peaceful and quite place, this is it.
Very pretty cabin in the forest, well laid out. Extremely quiet spot. The children were able to enjoy a huge outdoor space and pick blueberries. As the location is out of the way, it is advisable to have a vehicle.
Lovely stay off the road in a quiet patch of woodland. Very tastefully furnished cabin. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean and well equipped.

What a wonderful Stuga. Charming, cozy, inviting, and practically furnished. A spacious and clean bathroom. If you enjoy peace and quiet, this is the ideal place to stay. Plenty of privacy with a very spacious garden. Joep and Naomi were on vacation themselves, but Joep responded quickly to my email. Great. The bed was on the soft side, but even I, as a light sleeper, slept very well. A mosquito net is both pleasant and necessary to minimize mosquito bites. That’s provided as well. And with Mygga spray, it’s even more manageable. All in all, we had a wonderful stay in a cozy and clean Stuga. Thank you for your trust, Joep and Naomi.

Upon arrival, we had expected a different setting. It actually gave us the feeling of being at a trailer park. The photos don’t quite match the actual experience of the location. As a cabin or hut, it’s a great place to stay with all the amenities you need. However, the close proximity to neighbors and the noise from the road meant it didn’t feel like a cabin in the woods to us. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of birds in the wooded area behind the house.

It’s actually a nice cabin in the woods, but it has a lot of room for improvement. When we arrived, the cabin was unfortunately so dirty that we had to vacuum and wipe down the surfaces first. We were able to use the washing machine, but unfortunately there was no way to dry or hang up the laundry. When we asked about it, we were told that they would take care of it for the next guests. The cabin looks much older/more worn out than in the pictures, and some repairs are needed. We were provided with half a roll of toilet paper for two people for two nights, which was nowhere near enough. (no spare roll available)
We had a lovely stay at this cabin. It was very cosy and beautifully renovated with modern bathroom and kitchen without removing its charm. Joel was very helpful, both with instructions and helping while we were there.
We really enjoyed our stay there; the booking process was quick and straightforward, and Joep is very helpful. Shops are a 10-minute drive away. It was lovely; we’ll definitely be back.
A relaxing and cosy setting.
What a brilliant place – far enough away from civilisation to enjoy nature, yet close enough to easily do all your shopping and so on. We had a lovely week and, although the days were short, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Even at -15, the cottage was so cosy! Joep always replied quickly and kindly – a Superhost with a brilliant cottage.

A really cosy and charming spot in the woods.
We had a lovely stay, even though there was no cooking oil, salt, wine glasses, an ovenproof dish or bin bags – things that seem like standard household essentials. Apart from that, it was a cosy and fresh cottage that we’d highly recommend!
We spent two nice nights at Joep's place, and he was very responsive and lovely as a host. The place is very sweet and beautifully decorated, we enjoyed the cozy feel, the simple but well-equipped kitchen and the spacious bathroom. The bed was comfortable as well. The one thing to note is that, at the "right" time of year, the mosquitos are very present around the cottage, so it's good to bring some bug spray if you need it. Thanks for the hospitality, Joep!
We had a wonderful week full of mushroom-picking, sunshine and cosy evenings at Joep’s Stuga 🌳🍄🟫 The cottage is both very stylish and cosy. It has everything you need. With the forest right on your doorstep, there are plenty of opportunities to go for walks and enjoy nature. Joep was always available.
Getting there was very straightforward and our contact with the host was brilliant. Joep replied quickly and was always able to help us with any questions we had. The accommodation was very cosy and we felt right at home straight away.
We spent four nights in this cosy Swedish cottage and felt very much at home. Joep was a wonderful host – very attentive and helpful. For keen walkers and nature lovers, we can highly recommend tours in the surrounding area through the Tandövala Nature Reserve and to Lybergsgnupen. In Malung, it’s well worth visiting Fresans Konditori. Unfortunately, there were lots of mosquitoes, but that’s hardly surprising in such a boggy and water-rich area so close to the forest.
We had a lovely stay and everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived. We had everything we needed. The bathroom and bedroom were lovely too, and when you add the surroundings to that, you can really make the most of it. I’d recommend everyone to stay here at least once.
Feels like a modern day storybook cottage with memories of Grandma. Lots of forest walking and biking nearby. Very quiet.
The perfect place to stay for two nights!
A really cosy cottage out in the woods, set in incredibly beautiful surroundings with a lake nearby and a blueberry forest right on the doorstep. It’s in a peaceful area, so it’s perfect for couples or families with children.
We had a really lovely stay; the cottage is small but cosy. Everything we needed was there. The surroundings are very green and secluded, which we really appreciate as it allows us to unwind completely. Communication is very easy via the Airbnb app and replies are prompt.
A really lovely cottage. Beautifully situated on the edge of the woods. A very friendly hostess. The mattress was a bit too soft, but the duvet was lovely. Everything was well looked after. The windows in the kitchen/living room don’t open. Fortunately, the ones in the bedroom do, so we could get some fresh air. Just a few more flowers in the planters and the outdoor area would be perfect too.

In this cottage, you really feel like you’re in Sweden! Small, but cosy and comfortable. Everything you need for a lovely stay is provided. From the cottage, you can walk straight into the woods, which is lovely, but the downside is that there were quite a few mosquitoes. Joep and Naomi made us feel very welcome. It was lovely to be their guests for a few days on their beautiful grounds.
A delightful and cozy house with comfortable beds. Bedding and towels were provided. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes and pots. It's worth remembering to bring some spices and salt, as these were missing. There's a lawn available where children can play. The house is located right next to a forest rich in blueberries. It's just a few hundred meters from a lake with a small pier and very pleasant water. Note that the lake gets deep quickly without a gradual entry. The location is great for nature lovers. However, it's advisable to bring some insect repellent, as midges can be bothersome in the evening. Overall, a great place for a relaxing getaway, perfect for families and those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.

A really cosy cottage that had everything we needed. Lovely grounds around the cottage, but unfortunately there were lots of mosquitoes and midges whilst we were there, so we hurried between the car and the cottage.

The accommodation is just as lovely as it looks in the photos. It’s wonderfully peaceful and you’re surrounded by lush woodland. Even so, the nearest shops are just a 10-minute drive away. The accommodation was very modern yet still had a Swedish charm. We’d definitely recommend it 😊
Beautiful stuga in a very peaceful forest. You can go outside and enjoy the sun on the terrace or at the fire place. The only sound you can hear are the birds and the wind blowing in the trees. The Stuga is well equipped. Very nice and responsive host. Can only recommend to stay and enjoy this beautiful cottage.

This stuga is a real haven of peace and incredibly cosy. We were close to nature in a peaceful setting, with a very charming interior. We slept so well. The bedding was perfect. An idyllic country atmosphere and very friendly hosts. I highly recommend it and hope to be able to go back 😊

Our stay with Naomi and Joep was brilliant. The cottage is absolutely lovely and has everything you could possibly need – and if there’s anything missing, Joep and Naomi are there to help. Towels, bed linen and the lights were all ready when we arrived. We felt right at home straight away. You can head straight into the woods for a walk from the back of the cottage. Naomi and Joep are lovely hosts and we hit it off straight away! Sometimes you just get that feeling, and we love it every time we get on well with our hosts and can have a natter! For us, those are the best moments of our holidays! Thanks to you both – we hope to stay in touch! We can highly recommend Naomi and Joep’s Airbnb.
A cosy cottage, lovely woodland.
A really cosy cottage where you could easily stay for a week. It’s equipped with everything you need and is in a truly beautiful location, with plenty to do in the surrounding area (especially if you enjoy outdoor activities). There were just the two of us, and we went for the walking and activities such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobile trips and running – and, of course, to relax. It all worked out really well! A supermarket and other amenities are just a few minutes’ drive away. The hosts were friendly and attentive.
A cosy cottage – I’ll definitely book it again if I’m in the area on business. To make cleaning easier, it would be good to have a hoover and a few more cleaning supplies.
Our stay at the STUGA was perfect. A cozy house with everything we need for a relaxed (winter)stay. The hosts are very friendly and know a lot about the area. The stuga is private and is beautiful located in nature.

Very nice and cosy cottage. Stayed 2 nights with a family of 4. If it had been possible we would have stayed longer! Nice fireplace outside (also inside but we did not use it). Very helpful host.
